Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Vehicle Code. Provides that the Secretary of State shall issue Gold Star license plates to all siblings of a person who has lost his or her life while serving in the Armed Forces (instead of to only one surviving sibling in the absence of a surviving parent).

AN ACT concerning transportation.
| ||||
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||
represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||
Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing | ||||
Section 3-664 as follows:

Sec. 3-664. Gold Star license plates. Upon proper | ||||
application, the Secretary of State shall
issue registration | ||||
plates designated as Gold Star license plates to any Illinois | ||||
resident who is the
surviving widow, widower, sibling, or | ||||
parent of a person who served in the Armed Forces of the United | ||||
States and
lost his or her life while in service whether in | ||||
peacetime or war. The
surviving widow or widower and each | ||||
surviving parent and sibling , or in the absence of a surviving | ||||
parent, only one surviving sibling shall be issued one or more | ||||
sets set of registration plates. Registration plates issued | ||||
under this
Section shall be for first division vehicles and | ||||
second division vehicles
of 8,000 pounds or less. The Secretary | ||||
may, in his or her discretion, allow the plates to be issued as | ||||
vanity or personalized plates in accordance with Section | ||||
3-405.1 of this Code. An applicant shall be charged only the | ||||
appropriate registration fee.
