Bill Title: Amends the School Code. With regard to the prerequisites to receiving a high school diploma, provides that each pupil entering the 9th grade in the 2020-2021 school year or a subsequent school year must, in addition to other course requirements, successfully complete one year of workplace preparation studies that cover legal protections in the workplace, including protection against sexual harassment and racial and other forms of discrimination and other protections for employees.

1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
527-23.13 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/27-23.13 new)
7 Sec. 27-23.13. Workplace preparation course. A school
8district that maintains any of grades 9 through 12 may include
9in its high school curriculum a unit of instruction on
10workplace preparation that covers legal protections in the
11workplace, including protection against sexual harassment and
12racial and other forms of discrimination and other protections
13for employees. A school board may determine the minimum amount
14of instruction time that qualifies as a unit of instruction
15under this Section.
