Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act. Provides that the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority shall analyze criminal justice data to track crimes committed in the State by a convicted felon who is armed with a firearm at the time the crime is committed and the sentences imposed in the associated cases. Requires the analysis to track crimes committed in the 5 years immediately preceding the effective date of the amendatory Act. Provides that the Authority shall report this information to the General Assembly.

Amends the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act. 1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act
5is amended by adding Section 7.11 as follows:
6 (20 ILCS 3930/7.11 new)
7 Sec. 7.11. Crimes concerning the use of a firearm.
8 (a) The Authority shall perform an analysis of criminal
9justice data to track crimes committed in the State by a
10convicted felon who is armed with a firearm at the time the
11crime is committed and the sentences imposed in the associated
12criminal cases. The analysis shall track crimes committed in
13the 5 years immediately preceding the effective date of this
14amendatory Act of the 103rd General Assembly. The Authority
15shall report, on or before January 1, 2025, the following
16information in a report to the General Assembly:
17 (1) the number of the people who were arrested for a
18 firearm crime in the 5 years immediately preceding the
19 effective date of this amendatory Act of the 103rd General
20 Assembly and the number of those people who were convicted
21 felons; and
22 (2) the disposition of the associated cases.
23 (b) This Section is repealed January 1, 2026.
