Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act. Provides that the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority shall analyze criminal justice data to track crimes committed in the State by a convicted felon who is armed with a firearm at the time the crime is committed and the sentences imposed in the associated cases. Requires the analysis to track crimes committed in the 5 years immediately preceding the effective date of the amendatory Act. Provides that the Authority shall report this information to the General Assembly.

AN ACT concerning State government.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Illinois Criminal Justice Information Act
is amended by adding Section 7.11 as follows:
(20 ILCS 3930/7.11 new)
Sec. 7.11. Crimes concerning the use of a firearm.
(a) The Authority shall perform an analysis of criminal
justice data to track crimes committed in the State by a
convicted felon who is armed with a firearm at the time the
crime is committed and the sentences imposed in the associated
criminal cases. The analysis shall track crimes committed in
the 5 years immediately preceding the effective date of this
amendatory Act of the 103rd General Assembly. The Authority
shall report, on or before January 1, 2025, the following
information in a report to the General Assembly:
(1) the number of the people who were arrested for a
firearm crime in the 5 years immediately preceding the
effective date of this amendatory Act of the 103rd General
Assembly and the number of those people who were convicted
felons; and
(2) the disposition of the associated cases.
(b) This Section is repealed January 1, 2026.
