1 AN ACT concerning civil law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by
5 changing Section 1-106 as follows:
6 (735 ILCS 5/1-106) (from Ch. 110, par. 1-106)
7 Sec. 1-106. Act to be liberally construed. This Act shall
8 be liberally construed, to the the end that controversies may
9 be speedily and finally determined according to the substantive
10 rights of the parties. The rule that statutes in derogation of
11 the common law must be strictly construed does not apply to
12 this Act or to the rules made in relation thereto.
