2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Richard | ||||||
4 | A. Luttrell of Rochester, who passed away on November 6, 2010; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, He was born September 6, 1948 in Springfield, to | ||||||
7 | Donald E. and Wilma Jean Noyes Luttrell; he married Carole L. | ||||||
8 | Jenkins on November 23, 1968; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Richard was a lifelong resident of the Springfield | ||||||
10 | area and resided in Rochester the past 20 years; he was an avid | ||||||
11 | sky diver, a member of the U.S.P.A. (United States Parachute | ||||||
12 | Association) with a pro-rating, and a member of the Midwest | ||||||
13 | Parachute Club in Taylorville; and

14 | WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army during the | ||||||
15 | Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968, in the 2/327 Separate, A | ||||||
16 | Company, 101st Airborne Division; he was a lifetime member of | ||||||
17 | the V.F.W. 755 and the Military Order of the Purple Heart | ||||||
18 | Association; he was an avid fisherman and a past member of the | ||||||
19 | Sangamon County Interveterans Burial Detail; he was active with | ||||||
20 | the fundraising and completion of the Vietnam Memorial at Oak | ||||||
21 | Ridge Cemetery and traveled to Vietnam 3 times after the war | ||||||
22 | ended; and

1 | WHEREAS, He appeared on the N.B.C. television show, | ||||||
2 | Dateline, in 2000; he retired from the Illinois Department of | ||||||
3 | Veterans' Affairs as a Public Information Officer in 2002; he | ||||||
4 | also worked at the IDPA and Meadow Gold Dairy; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, He was preceded in death by his parents; his | ||||||
6 | daughter, Carole Michelle Mackanin; and his brother, Kenneth | ||||||
7 | Luttrell; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Richard Luttrell is survived by his wife, Carole; | ||||||
9 | his daughter, Christina (partner, Linda Davis) Luttrell; his | ||||||
10 | grandchildren, Ashley (David Nossem) Schwien and Brittany | ||||||
11 | Schwien; his great-grandchild, Mahkayla; his sisters, Rita | ||||||
12 | Walker, Barb Owens, and Janet Banning; his brother, Ed | ||||||
13 | Luttrell; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and | ||||||
14 | cousins; therefore, be it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
16 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
17 | mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of | ||||||
18 | Richard Luttrell; and be it further
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Richard Luttrell as a symbol of our | ||||||
21 | sincere sympathy.
