2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to thank Dwight Baird, Chief of | ||||||
4 | Police of the Village of Oswego, for his 11 years of service | ||||||
5 | and dedication to the residents of Oswego and wish him | ||||||
6 | continued success as he takes the next step in his career as | ||||||
7 | Kendall County Sheriff; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird was awarded the 2014 Police | ||||||
9 | Chief of the Year award because of his dedication to combating | ||||||
10 | crime through proven experience and professionalism, which he | ||||||
11 | has committed to the residents of the Village of Oswego; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird has dedicated 24 years of | ||||||
13 | service to law enforcement, being afforded his start in 1990 as | ||||||
14 | a Deputy in the Kendall County Sheriff's Office; he later | ||||||
15 | pursued an opportunity with the Village of Oswego, where he was | ||||||
16 | later promoted to Chief of Police; as Chief of Police, he is | ||||||
17 | known for reducing crime through community crime prevention, | ||||||
18 | fiscal accountability, and procuring the necessary tools for | ||||||
19 | protecting the residents of Oswego; and

20 | WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird has proven to be a leader in | ||||||
21 | law enforcement by educating himself and his staff on the | ||||||
22 | newest updated technology and policies available to law |

2 | WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird's leadership and devotion to | ||||||
3 | law enforcement has earned the Oswego Police Department | ||||||
4 | National Accreditation from the National Board of Commission on | ||||||
5 | Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, which is a | ||||||
6 | performance level that only 3% of departments nationwide have | ||||||
7 | achieved; and

8 | WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird received his Bachelor's Degree | ||||||
9 | in Criminal Justice from Aurora University and his Master's | ||||||
10 | Degree in Law Enforcement Justice Administration from Western | ||||||
11 | Illinois University; he is also a graduate of the Federal | ||||||
12 | Bureau of Investigation's National Academy; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Chief Dwight Baird is the only son of Thomas and | ||||||
14 | Marilyn Baird and the father of Bobby Baird; therefore, be it
| ||||||
15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
16 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
17 | we commend Oswego Police Chief Dwight Baird for his dedication | ||||||
18 | and selfless commitment to law enforcement and the residents of | ||||||
19 | the Village of Oswego and the professionalism he instills upon | ||||||
20 | his staff and wish him continued success in his departure as he | ||||||
21 | accepts the duties and responsibilities as Sheriff of Kendall | ||||||
22 | County; and be it further
