HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to honor Representative Jason Barickman
on his time in the Illinois House and to congratulate him on
his recent election to the 53rd Illinois State Senate district;
and
WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman was appointed to serve out
the remaining days of then Rep. Shane Cultra's term for the
105th Legislative District in the 96th General Assembly; he
went on to serve the 105th Legislative District during the 97th
General Assembly; he has won the opportunity to represent the
newly drawn 53rd State Senate district, which stretches from
Bloomington to the Indiana border; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman has always been a strong
supporter of Illinois farmers and the agriculture industry
throughout the State; he has been a relentless advocate for
small business owners and entrepreneurs, fought for policies to
lower individual and business tax burdens, encouraged economic
growth and hiring, and fought to rein in spending; he has been
an advocate of open and transparent government; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman is a founding partner of the
law office of Bartell, Barickman & Powell, LLP; he is an

entrepreneur at heart, actively investing in real estate and is
part owner in a title company he formed; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman was raised on a family farm
in Livingston County near Ancona; he graduated from Woodland
High School in 1993, and served in the Illinois Army National
Guard from 1993 to 2000, completing his basic and advanced
training at Fort Benning, Georgia; he graduated from Illinois
State University in 1998, where he served as ISU Student Body
President his senior year, with a degree in political science;
after graduation he spent 4 years in business, working for
Ernst & Young and the power company Dynegy; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman graduated from the
University of Illinois College of Law in May of 2005; he
completed legal internships with the Department of Justice's
Federal Bureau of Prisons and worked as a graduate assistant to
Governor Jim Edgar at the Institute of Government and Public
Affairs; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman has served as chairman of the
Champaign County Republican Party from 2006 to 2012; and
WHEREAS, Rep. Jason Barickman and his wife, Kristen, were
married in 2010 and welcomed a son, August, in May of 2011, and
a new son, Walter in January of 2013; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
we honor Rep. Jason Barickman on his time in the Illinois House
and congratulate him on his recent election to the 53rd
Illinois State Senate district; and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Rep. Jason Barickman as an expression of our
esteem and respect.
