| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, It is highly fitting that the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives pays honor and respect to the truly great | ||||||
| 4 | individuals who have served our country, and in doing so, have | ||||||
| 5 | gone above and beyond the call of duty; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Merrill Kirchhoefer served as a Private First | ||||||
| 7 | Class in the United States Army during World War II with the | ||||||
| 8 | 39th Battalion Signal Corp-B Company; he helped build and fix | ||||||
| 9 | communication lines going into battlefields behind the 9th | ||||||
| 10 | Army; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Merrill Kirchhoefer took part in the infamous | ||||||
| 12 | Battle of the Bulge; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, During his time of service, Merrill Kirchhoefer | ||||||
| 14 | was awarded 4 Bronze Stars; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 16 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we recognize Merrill Kirchhoefer for his heroic actions during | ||||||
| 18 | World War II and we thank him for his service to his country; | ||||||
| 19 | and be it further

| 20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
