2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate State Rep. Sara Wojcicki | ||||||
4 | Jimenez on her retirement and recognize her years of service to | ||||||
5 | the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez was sworn in as the State | ||||||
7 | Representative for the 99th District on
November 20, 2015; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez has lived in the Springfield | ||||||
9 | area since she was five; she attended
Cathedral Grade School | ||||||
10 | and Ursuline Academy; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez graduated from Southern | ||||||
12 | Illinois University Edwardsville and the
University of | ||||||
13 | Illinois at Springfield; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez worked as a reporter for | ||||||
15 | KHQA in Quincy and WICS in Springfield before
taking a position | ||||||
16 | as Deputy Director of Communications for the Illinois State | ||||||
17 | Treasurer's office; she
worked as press secretary for the | ||||||
18 | Illinois House Republican Caucus and Director of | ||||||
19 | Intergovernmental
Affairs and Program Communications for the | ||||||
20 | Illinois State Comptroller's office; she also worked as chief
| ||||||
21 | of staff to Illinois First Lady Diana Rauner; and

1 | WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez was elected to a term on the | ||||||
2 | Springfield Park District Board in 2011; she
was an advocate | ||||||
3 | for parks and recreation opportunities in Springfield while | ||||||
4 | collaborating with other
trustees during tough economic times; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez fought for a more efficient, | ||||||
7 | transparent,
and accountable state government that better | ||||||
8 | serves Illinois families; she introduced initiatives to
| ||||||
9 | prohibit automatic cost of living raises for elected officials | ||||||
10 | and to prohibit collection of session-day
mileage and per diem | ||||||
11 | payments for legislators residing in Sangamon County; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez served as the House | ||||||
13 | Republican Spokesperson on the House
Discrimination and Sexual | ||||||
14 | Harassment Task Force and worked with colleagues across the | ||||||
15 | aisle to pass bipartisan
reforms strengthening harassment and | ||||||
16 | discrimination protections in State and local
government; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, With bringing in good jobs for families in her | ||||||
18 | district as a top priority, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez, spearheaded | ||||||
19 | passage of a new law that creates a Capitol/Springfield area | ||||||
20 | hiring
preference for State positions that could return | ||||||
21 | hundreds of State jobs to the Sangamon County area; and

1 | WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez worked with local | ||||||
2 | constituents to pass new laws that will help families
| ||||||
3 | statewide, including protecting adult children's visitation | ||||||
4 | with elderly parents and expanding successful
veteran courts; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez partnered with members of | ||||||
7 | the community to craft innovative local
solutions, including | ||||||
8 | partnering with Computer Banc to repurpose used State computer | ||||||
9 | equipment for
schools and daycare facilities and spearheading a | ||||||
10 | penny drive with local school children to purchase an
Abraham | ||||||
11 | Lincoln artifact and return it to Illinois for the State's | ||||||
12 | bicentennial; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, On the occasion of Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez's | ||||||
14 | retirement from the Illinois House of
Representatives her | ||||||
15 | colleagues wish to recognize and thank her for her public | ||||||
16 | service and for her continued work to make her community and | ||||||
17 | the State of Illinois a better place to live, work, and raise a
| ||||||
18 | family; therefore, be it
| ||||||
19 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
20 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
21 | congratulate State Rep. Sara Wojcicki Jimenez on her | ||||||
22 | retirement, recognize her years of service to the State of | ||||||
23 | Illinois, and thank her for her work on behalf of the people of |

1 | the State of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
2 | RESOLVED, That we wish Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez, her husband, | ||||||
3 | Jose Carlos, and their twin sons, Charlie
and Augie, the very | ||||||
4 | best as they begin a new chapter; and be it further
| ||||||
5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to Rep. Wojcicki Jimenez and her family as a symbol | ||||||
7 | of
our esteem and well wishes.
