| ||||||
2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Destiny Carter, a | ||||||
4 | junior from Danville High School, on winning the State title in | ||||||
5 | the 400 meter race at the IHSA State track and field meet in | ||||||
6 | Charleston on May 22, 2010; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Junior Destiny Carter became Danville High | ||||||
8 | School's second girls' track and field State champion Saturday, | ||||||
9 | May 22, 2010, at Eastern Illinois University's O'Brien Stadium; | ||||||
10 | she also added runner-up efforts in three other events; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, She personally scored 34 of the 46 points Danville | ||||||
12 | needed to secure its first State trophy in the 38 years of the | ||||||
13 | girls' track finals; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, She has never been beaten in the 400 up to this | ||||||
15 | point; on May 22, she recorded a time of 55.09, almost beating | ||||||
16 | her previous best of 55.07; and

17 | WHEREAS, Destiny also received second-place medallions in | ||||||
18 | the long jump (18 feet, 3 3/4 inches) and the 100 meters | ||||||
19 | (12.04), and she posted the State's second-best time, covering | ||||||
20 | all three classes, in the 200 meters; and

1 | WHEREAS, Destiny Carter is a valued part of the Danville | ||||||
2 | Lady Vikings track team, and was a part of the team as they | ||||||
3 | captured third place on May 22 at the State meet; therefore, be | ||||||
4 | it

5 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
6 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
7 | congratulate Destiny Carter and wish her continued success in | ||||||
8 | her high school career; and be it further

9 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
10 | presented to Destiny Carter as a symbol of our respect and | ||||||
11 | esteem.
