| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives and Representative Monique D. Davis wish to | ||||||
| 4 | congratulate Dozier and Helen Thomas on the occasion of their | ||||||
| 5 | 50th wedding anniversary; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Dozier and Helen Thomas were united in marriage on | ||||||
| 7 | August 4, 1962; their marriage has been blessed with three | ||||||
| 8 | sons: Frederick, Rodney, and Dozier, who received from their | ||||||
| 9 | parents the wonderful upbringing that develops good citizens | ||||||
| 10 | and wonderful, hard-working, and loving, adults; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas spent many years in successful | ||||||
| 12 | careers as educators and are faithful members of Bellevue | ||||||
| 13 | Baptist Church, where they serve diligently in various | ||||||
| 14 | capacities; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas are, and have always been, a | ||||||
| 16 | tower of strength, support, understanding, and limitless love | ||||||
| 17 | for their family, and continue to live their lives with great | ||||||
| 18 | dignity and genuine grace, demonstrating a continuing concern | ||||||
| 19 | for human values and ideals, and in doing so have inspired | ||||||
| 20 | others to do the same; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas have earned the respect of all | ||||||

| 1 | with whom they have come into contact and the love and | ||||||
| 2 | affection of their children, grandchildren, | ||||||
| 3 | great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends; | ||||||
| 4 | they have touched the lives of their family and many friends | ||||||
| 5 | through the shining example of their marriage, which is a | ||||||
| 6 | testament to the devotion and admiration they possess for one | ||||||
| 7 | another; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, For five decades, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas have | ||||||
| 9 | supported one another through all of life's trials and | ||||||
| 10 | tribulations and have stood by each other through life's many | ||||||
| 11 | joys and triumphs; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, The longevity of this marriage is a result of the | ||||||
| 13 | love, hard work, and dedication that this couple has invested | ||||||
| 14 | and truly marks a milestone in life's journey; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 16 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 17 | we congratulate Dozier and Helen Thomas on the occasion of | ||||||
| 18 | their 50th wedding anniversary; and be it further
| ||||||
| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to Dozier and Helen Thomas as an expression of our | ||||||
| 21 | esteem and respect.
