2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lance | ||||||
4 | Corporal Steven M. Hancock of Coal City, who passed away on May | ||||||
5 | 19, 2014 during a training exercise in North Carolina with the | ||||||
6 | United States Marine Corps; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, LCpl. Steven Hancock was born on May 24, 1993 in | ||||||
8 | Joliet; he was the son of Michael and Susan (nee Healy) | ||||||
9 | Hancock; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, LCpl. Steven Hancock was raised and educated in | ||||||
11 | Coal City, graduating from Coal City High School with the class | ||||||
12 | of 2011; he was also a member of the First Christian Church of | ||||||
13 | Morris since 1999; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, LCpl. Steven Hancock was a very active member of | ||||||
15 | the Boy Scouts of America and a member of Boy Scout Troop 466, | ||||||
16 | having earned his Eagle Scout designation in 2011; he was also | ||||||
17 | an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing; and
| ||||||
18 | WHEREAS, LCpl. Steven Hancock joined the United States | ||||||
19 | Marine Corps on March 5, 2012 and was attached to the 2nd | ||||||
20 | Marine Aircraft Wing; he served as the crew chief of a V-22 | ||||||
21 | Osprey, a tilt-rotor aircraft that is designed to take off and |

1 | land like a helicopter, but flies like a plane; and

2 | WHEREAS, LCpl. Steven Hancock is survived by his parents, | ||||||
3 | Michael and Susan Hancock; 2 sisters, Julia Hancock and Mallory | ||||||
4 | Hancock; paternal grandparents, James and Karen Hancock; | ||||||
5 | maternal grandfather, Arthur Lietz; and many aunts, uncles, and | ||||||
6 | cousins; therefore, be it

7 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
8 | NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
9 | we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of | ||||||
10 | United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Steven M. Hancock; | ||||||
11 | and be it further

12 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
13 | presented to the family of LCpl. Steven Hancock as an | ||||||
