| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly are | ||||||
| 3 | pleased to recognize St. Joseph
Catholic Church in Benld on the | ||||||
| 4 | occasion of its Centennial Jubilee; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Construction for St. Joseph Catholic Church began | ||||||
| 6 | in April of 1915; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, The first mass was celebrated by the founder of | ||||||
| 8 | the church, Reverend John Crosson
on April 14, 1916 and has | ||||||
| 9 | continued every Sunday since; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, St. Joseph Catholic Church is celebrating its | ||||||
| 11 | Centennial Jubilee on April 9, 2016; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, The milestone anniversary celebrations will begin | ||||||
| 13 | with a Mission Week from March 13 to March 17 and include a | ||||||
| 14 | mass, lecture, and prayer service at the parish; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, The Centennial Jubilee celebration will include a | ||||||
| 16 | Mass of Thanksgiving on April 9,
2016 that will be | ||||||
| 17 | co-celebrated by Bishop Thomas Paprocki of the Diocese of | ||||||
| 18 | Springfield and other Diocesan priests, with a dinner and | ||||||
| 19 | reception to follow; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, St. Joseph Catholic Church is the home parish to | ||||||
| 2 | 110 families; and
| ||||||
| 3 | WHEREAS, The parish holds annual events such as the St. | ||||||
| 4 | Joseph Feast Day Celebration in
March, a salad luncheon in | ||||||
| 5 | April, and a Christmas dinner in December; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Their current pastor is Reverend Michael Haag, who | ||||||
| 7 | is also the pastor of Ss. Mary
and Joseph in Carlinville and | ||||||
| 8 | Ss. Simon and Jude in Gillespie; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Church leadership also includes their Parochial | ||||||
| 10 | Vicar, Father Marianna Sathuluri,
and Pastor Emeritus | ||||||
| 11 | Monsignor Lawrence Auda; and
| ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, St. Joseph Catholic Church continues to be a | ||||||
| 13 | community leader; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 15 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 16 | congratulate St. Joseph Catholic Church on their Centennial | ||||||
| 17 | Jubilee and wish them success and prosperity in the future; and | ||||||
| 18 | be it further

| 19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 20 | presented to St. Joseph Catholic Church
as a symbol of our | ||||||
