HOUSE RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
Representatives wish to congratulate Xavier Bishop for
breaking 2 Springfield City Basketball Tournament records; and
WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop is a senior point guard for Lanphier
High School; and
WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop scored 50 points in an individual
game to break the previous 50-year record of 39 points; and
WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop scored 102 points during the
tournament to break the previous record of 98 points, which
stood for 49 years; and
WHEREAS, As a student athlete, Xavier Bishop is a member of
the National Honor Society and a mentor to elementary and
middle school basketball players; and
WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop is known among Springfield-area
players and coaches for his personality and motivation; and
WHEREAS, Xavier Bishop has a bright future ahead of him and
is being recruited by several colleges and universities;
therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
congratulate Xavier Bishop for breaking 2 Springfield City
Tournament records and we wish him many more years of success;
and be it further
RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
presented to Xavier Bishop as a symbol of our esteem and
respect.
