| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate the faculty, | ||||||
| 4 | staff, and students of Neuqua Valley High School on the | ||||||
| 5 | occasion of winning the distinguished John F. Kennedy Center | ||||||
| 6 | for the Performing Arts National Schools of Distinction in Arts | ||||||
| 7 | Education award; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Neuqua Valley High School is well known throughout | ||||||
| 9 | the Naperville community and beyond for its incredible fine and | ||||||
| 10 | performing arts departments; more than half of the school's | ||||||
| 11 | population regularly elects to take coursework in the fine and | ||||||
| 12 | performing arts; the school also features various band, | ||||||
| 13 | orchestra, and choir performances, such as the Wind Ensemble, | ||||||
| 14 | Chamber Orchestra, and Varsity Singers, among many others; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Neuqua Valley High School has received | ||||||
| 16 | recognition by the Grammy Association for its music program; | ||||||
| 17 | the school was named a Grammy signature school in 1998, 1999, | ||||||
| 18 | and 2001, a Grammy signature school Gold in 2000, 2003, 2004, | ||||||
| 19 | and 2009, and a National Grammy Signature school "Best in | ||||||
| 20 | Nation" in 2005; and
| ||||||
| 21 | WHEREAS, Neuqua Valley High School was only one of 5 | ||||||
| 22 | schools, and the only public school in the country, to receive | ||||||

| 1 | the Kennedy Center award in 2010; and
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The faculty, staff, and students of Neuqua Valley | ||||||
| 3 | High School serve as models of hard work, integrity, and | ||||||
| 4 | dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, | ||||||
| 5 | be it

| 6 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 7 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 8 | congratulate the faculty, staff, and students of Neuqua Valley | ||||||
| 9 | High School on the occasion of the school's victory and wish | ||||||
| 10 | them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it | ||||||
| 11 | further
