| 2 | WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill has been nominated for the | ||||||
| 3 | Lifesaver Award, a prestigious award given to members of the | ||||||
| 4 | correctional officer community who have taken actions to save | ||||||
| 5 | the life of another person; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, On the night of November 1, 2023, at | ||||||
| 7 | approximately 10:08 p.m., COIII Shelly Hill heard a Code 16 | ||||||
| 8 | Medical Emergency that was called over the institutional radio | ||||||
| 9 | system in Housing Unit #10 C-Wing of the Northeast | ||||||
| 10 | Correctional Center in Bowling Green, Missouri; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill and several staff members | ||||||
| 12 | immediately leapt into action and discovered that offender | ||||||
| 13 | Howard Chevelle was not breathing; and
| ||||||
| 14 | WHEREAS, COIII Shelly Hill performed several rounds of CPR | ||||||
| 15 | on the inmate, and he regained the ability to breathe | ||||||
| 16 | approximately half an hour later; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 18 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 19 | we commend COIII Shelly Hill for going above and beyond the | ||||||
| 20 | call of duty to save the life of another person, reflecting | ||||||
| 21 | great merit upon herself and the entire law enforcement | ||||||
