2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Brandon Perlow on | ||||||
4 | the occasion of his work as an observer for a London-based | ||||||
5 | non-governmental organization at the 2009 United Nations | ||||||
6 | Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Brandon Perlow is a graduate of Stevenson High | ||||||
8 | School in Lincolnshire; he is currently working on his master's | ||||||
9 | degree in public policy and administration at the London School | ||||||
10 | of Economics and Political Science; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Brandon Perlow has been an environmentalist at | ||||||
12 | heart since grade school, when he planted a tree in his | ||||||
13 | backyard for Earth Day; he was the vice president of the | ||||||
14 | University of Wisconsin Hillel board of directors, the largest | ||||||
15 | Jewish student organization in the state; as vice-president, he | ||||||
16 | helped ensure that the University's new 40,000-square-foot, | ||||||
17 | $14 million state-of-the-art building was LEED-certified to | ||||||
18 | high environmental standards; and

19 | WHEREAS, Brandon Perlow strenuously works to reduce his | ||||||
20 | carbon footprint; he walks whenever possible and utilizes | ||||||
21 | carbon-neutral public transportation; he only eats organic, | ||||||
22 | cage-free meat and drives an Ultralow emissions vehicle that |

1 | gets 32 miles per gallon; he also plants trees at least once a | ||||||
2 | year in Buffalo Grove and around the world; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Brandon Perlow will participate in the 2009 United | ||||||
4 | Nations Climate Change Conference as an observer; as an | ||||||
5 | observer, he will help encourage diplomats to pursue a rigorous | ||||||
6 | new global climate treaty; he will also attend workshops and | ||||||
7 | side events at the conference to learn more about the global | ||||||
8 | warming threat and then try to teach the world about the | ||||||
9 | science and the morals behind mitigation and adaptation of | ||||||
10 | climate change; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Brandon Perlow serves as a model of hard work, | ||||||
12 | integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of | ||||||
13 | Illinois; therefore, be it
| ||||||
14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
15 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
16 | congratulate Brandon Perlow on the occasion of his work and | ||||||
17 | wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be | ||||||
18 | it further

20 | presented to Brandon Perlow as a symbol of our esteem and | ||||||
