| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives wish to recognize Brandon W. Phelps on his time | ||||||
| 4 | as an Illinois State Representative; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Rep. Phelps represented the 118th District as a | ||||||
| 6 | fulltime state legislator from January of 2003
to August of | ||||||
| 7 | 2017; and
| ||||||
| 8 | WHEREAS, Rep. Phelps was born in Eldorado to Larry and | ||||||
| 9 | Cathy Phelps; he has one daughter, Hunter, and two siblings, | ||||||
| 10 | Brock and Britt; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, After high school, Rep. Phelps attended | ||||||
| 12 | Southeastern Illinois
College and then transferred to Eastern | ||||||
| 13 | Illinois University, where he earned his Bachelor of Arts in | ||||||
| 14 | Political Science; and
| ||||||
| 15 | WHEREAS, Before becoming a member of the Illinois House of
| ||||||
| 16 | Representatives, Rep. Phelps was a 15-year organizer for the
| ||||||
| 17 | Midwest Region of Laborers' International Union of North | ||||||
| 18 | America; and
| ||||||
| 19 | WHEREAS, Rep. Phelps was a former president of the National | ||||||
| 20 | Assembly of
Sportsmen's Caucus; he was a member of the National | ||||||

of State Legislators, the NRA, the NAACP,
Ducks | ||||||
| 2 | Unlimited, the National Wild Turkey
Federation, the AFL-CIO, | ||||||

Baptist Church in Eldorado; and

| 4 | WHEREAS, Rep. Phelps is most remembered for the 2006 Let | ||||||
| 5 | Them Rest
in Peace Act and when he was chief house sponsor for
| ||||||
| 6 | the 2013 concealed carry law, allowing law-abiding citizens to | ||||||
| 7 | protect
themselves, their families, and their property; | ||||||
| 8 | therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 9 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
| 10 | HUNDREDTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
| 11 | recognize Brandon W. Phelps on his time as an Illinois State | ||||||
| 12 | Representative, and we wish him the best in all his future | ||||||
| 13 | endeavors; and be it further
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 15 | presented to Rep. Phelps as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
