HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lane M.
4Lindstrom of Pontiac, who passed away on July 20, 2019; and
5 WHEREAS, Lane Lindstrom was the only child of Laverne
6"Lindy" and Evelyn L. (Leimbacher) Lindstrom; he was born in
7Joliet on September 23, 1959; he graduated from Joliet East
8High School in 1977 and attended Joliet Junior College; he
9married Shelly on October 6, 1990; and
10 WHEREAS, Lane Lindstrom dedicated his life to his passion
11for radio; he worked as a broadcast engineer for over 18 radio
12stations throughout his career; he was employed by WSPY in
13Plano, for whom he worked tirelessly for over 45 years; he was
14part owner of WJEZ in Pontiac; he was also a partner of Grundy
15County Broadcasters, WCSJ/WJDK, in Morris; he worked
16diligently as Chief Engineer of WCCQ in Joliet in the 1990s and
17for radio stations WWJTW and WAJP, also based in Joliet; he
18also worked passionately for WTRX-FM Pontiac, WDND-FM in Coal
19City, WIVR Kankakee, WSQR in Sycamore, WLBK in DeKalb, and WOAM
20in Peoria; and
21 WHEREAS, Among Lane Lindstrom's most celebrated work was
22his Friday Afternoon Oldies Get-Together, for which he brought

1classic oldies back to life for his many listeners each Friday
2afternoon; throughout his time in radio, his extensive
3knowledge of the music came shining through; he provided
4countless hours of entertainment for listeners from all over
5the United States who called in, messaged, and eventually
6became his good friends; he broadcasted on WJEZ for over 25
7years and most recently on WGCY in Gibson City; his
8extraordinary dedication and love for his work and craft was
9both genuine and pure; and
10 WHEREAS, Lane Lindstrom was a selfless man, always willing
11to offer a hand or speak to anyone in need; he was proud of his
12work, his community, and his family; he always had a song in
13his heart and one in cue ready to play; and
14 WHEREAS, Lane Lindstrom's family could not have asked for a
15better man to call husband, dad, and papa; he left each with
16memories that will last them a lifetime and a music library so
17big they will never be without a song in their hearts; in his
18own words, "If you do something you love, you will never work a
19day in your life"; he never worked a Friday; and
20 WHEREAS, Lane Lindstrom is survived by his wife, Shelly;
21his daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" (Mitch) McDonald and Allie (Bud)
22Crane; and his grandchildren, Jack and Marie McDonald;
23therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
2HUNDRED FIRST GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
3we mourn the passing of Lane M. Lindstrom and extend our
4sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
5and loved him; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Lane Lindstrom as a symbol of our
8respect and esteem.
