HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jacqueline Reed on
4the occasion of her retirement as President and Chief Executive
5Officer of Westside Health Authority; and
6 WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed earned her master's degree in
7social service administration from the University of Chicago;
8she has over 35 years of experience in social work and many
9years of experience in community organizing; and
10 WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed is the founder, President, and
11former Chief Executive Officer of Westside Health Authority, a
1220-year-old community-based organization that seeks to build
13the capacity of local residents to improve their community by
14increasing access to quality health care, improve job and
15educational opportunities in order to create avenues for
16successful ex-offender reentry, and provide social,
17recreational, and academic activities for youth; Westside
18Health Authority's numerous programs, including its Every
19Block a Village initiative, have helped countless young people
20achieve their highest potential; and
21 WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed has been the recipient of numerous
22awards, including the Chicago Community Trust Leadership

1Award, the University of Chicago Elizabeth Butler Alumni Award,
2the Robert Woods Johnson Foundation National Leadership Award,
3the Friends of Sheltered Children in Kenya - Humanitarian
4Award, the Adoption Worker of the Year Award, and the Chicago
5Commission on Human Relations Advisory Council on African
6Affairs Recognition Award; and
7 WHEREAS, Jacqueline Reed has served as a model of hard
8work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of
9Illinois; therefore, be it
10 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
12we congratulate Jacqueline Reed on the occasion of her
13retirement and wish her many happy and healthy retirement
14years; and be it further
15 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to Jacqueline Reed as a symbol of our esteem and
17respect.
