2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lisa | ||||||
4 | Marie Stanley, who passed away on November 4, 2023; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lisa Stanley was born in Decatur to Halton | ||||||
6 | Robinson and Jacqueline King on January 20, 1965; she | ||||||
7 | graduated from Eisenhower High School and studied theology at | ||||||
8 | Lincoln Christian University; she pursued a degree in | ||||||
9 | workforce education and development at Southern Illinois | ||||||
10 | University; she graduated from the Illinois Women's Institute | ||||||
11 | for Leadership in 2005; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Lisa Stanley had a passion for public service, | ||||||
13 | which led her to work as a legislative liaison for former U.S. | ||||||
14 | Rep. David Phelps and various state agencies, including | ||||||
15 | then-Gov. Rod Blagojevich's office and the Department of | ||||||
16 | Healthcare and Family Services; she served as an aide to | ||||||
17 | former Senator Andy Manor, running his Decatur office; she | ||||||
18 | served on the Boys & Girls Club of Decatur Board of Directors | ||||||
19 | from 2016 to 2021; she worked tirelessly to advocate for | ||||||
20 | policies that uplifted marginalized communities and championed | ||||||
21 | social justice; and

22 | WHEREAS, Lisa Stanley was appointed to the Decatur |

1 | Township Board in 2011; she was elected supervisor in 2013, | ||||||
2 | the first African American woman to hold the position in | ||||||
3 | Decatur; throughout her tenure as township supervisor, she | ||||||
4 | demonstrated exemplary leadership and a passionate pursuit of | ||||||
5 | equality and fairness; she tirelessly worked to improve the | ||||||
6 | lives of the township's residents, particularly those facing | ||||||
7 | socio-economic challenges; her compassionate approach and | ||||||
8 | dedication to serving the needs of the community garnered | ||||||
9 | widespread respect and admiration; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Lisa Stanley was a dedicated member of Realm | ||||||
11 | Global International Ministries; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Lisa Stanley was a role model, a source of | ||||||
13 | inspiration, and a pillar of strength; her unwavering | ||||||
14 | commitment to her community and her passion for justice will | ||||||
15 | continue to resonate for generations to come; and

16 | WHEREAS, Lisa Stanley was preceded in death by her father, | ||||||
17 | Halton Robinson; her grandmother, Verneida Madison; and other | ||||||
18 | family members; and

19 | WHEREAS, Lisa Stanley is survived by her son, Anthony | ||||||
20 | (Jennifer) Stanley; her granddaughters, Camorre Beasley and | ||||||
21 | Zara Stanley; her mother, Jacqueline King; her brother, | ||||||
22 | Charles King; her sister, Crystal Robinson; and numerous |

3 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||

5 | we mourn the passing of Lisa Marie Stanley and extend our | ||||||
6 | sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew | ||||||
