2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to congratulate Robert A. "Bob" Calhoun | ||||||
4 | on the occasion of his retirement; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun was born in Belleville on May 2, | ||||||
6 | 1935; he graduated from Belleville Township High School in | ||||||
7 | 1953, where he played football and wrestled; he received a | ||||||
8 | scholarship for football and played as a defensive back at | ||||||
9 | Southern Illinois University Carbondale, where he
also | ||||||
10 | wrestled; he enlisted in the U.S. Navy Reserve when he was 17; | ||||||
11 | he was on active duty with the Navy from
1955 to 1957 as an | ||||||
12 | aviator electrician; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun married his wife, Marjorie, on | ||||||
14 | January 9, 1957, and they have been married for 66 years; | ||||||
15 | together, they have five children, 11 grandchildren, and nine | ||||||
16 | great-grandchildren; and
| ||||||
17 | WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun began working for Freidewell | ||||||
18 | Engineering in 1957; he worked for Fruin-Colnon in 1958 and | ||||||
19 | for Cunliff Construction from 1959 to 1974, where he started | ||||||
20 | as a field engineer and worked his
way up to vice president; | ||||||

1 | WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun founded Calhoun Construction, Inc. on | ||||||
2 | November 2, 1974; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun established the Little Devils | ||||||
4 | Football organization, where he coached for 35 years and
was | ||||||
5 | the president for 34 years; he also started a wrestling | ||||||
6 | program for kids; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun served as the Jaycees state vice | ||||||
8 | president and national director for four years; he is a | ||||||
9 | lifetime member of the Ainad Shriners (color guard), Moose, | ||||||
10 | Scottish Rite Temple, and
the Elks; he served as trustee for | ||||||
11 | the Elks for 12 years; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Bob Calhoun has been a trustee for the Carpenters | ||||||
13 | Welfare, Pension and Annuity Fund for 50 years and
the | ||||||
14 | Laborers Pension Fund for 20 years, where he still serves as a | ||||||
15 | trustee; therefore, be it

16 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
17 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
18 | we congratulate Robert A. "Bob" Calhoun on the occasion of his | ||||||
19 | retirement, and we wish him the best in all his future | ||||||
20 | endeavors; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
