2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Lula | ||||||
4 | Christine Brown, who passed away on March 14, 2015; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Lula Brown was born on November 10, 1934 in | ||||||
6 | Coatopa, Alabama; her parents were Curtis C. and Rosie Lee (nee | ||||||
7 | Crocker) Davis; and
| ||||||
8 | WHEREAS, After skipping a grade and graduating from high | ||||||
9 | school in Livingston, Alabama, Lula Brown relocated to Waukegan | ||||||
10 | and assisted many other Alabamians in doing the same; and
| ||||||
11 | WHEREAS, Lula Brown retired from the Chrysler Corporation | ||||||
12 | in Kenosha, Wisconsin after many years of service; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, After over 40 years of attendance at Trinity | ||||||
14 | African Methodist Episcopal Church, Lula Brown was baptized in | ||||||
15 | the North Shore Church of Christ in 2011; and
| ||||||
16 | WHEREAS, Lula Brown was the President of the Waukegan | ||||||
17 | Chapter of Alabama Club for over 36 years, retiring in 2013; | ||||||
18 | while there, she did a great deal of community work and was | ||||||
19 | recognized for such by the People's Voice; and

1 | WHEREAS, Lula Brown was preceded in death by her husband, | ||||||
2 | Willis "Nutch" Brown; her parents; her grandparents; an aunt, | ||||||
3 | Rilla Ward; a brother-in-law, Charles London; a niece, Janice | ||||||
4 | Rogers; a cousin, Barbara Abrams; a cousin-in-law, Jack Adams, | ||||||
5 | Jr.; a special niece, Rosa Hughes; and a special friend, Lucy | ||||||
6 | Anderson; and

7 | WHEREAS, Lula Brown is survived by her only child, Sherby | ||||||
8 | Dianne (Anthony) Scurto; a grandson, Willis Lamar (Dama) | ||||||
9 | Foster; a great-granddaughter, Nalani Annise Foster; a sister, | ||||||
10 | Stella London; an aunt, Annie Mae Hawkins-Grant; 2 special | ||||||
11 | cousins, Callie D. Adams and Thomas (Jean) Moore; a | ||||||
12 | god-daughter, Shauna (Mitch) Smith; her best friend, Pearlene | ||||||
13 | Strawn; her special family friends, James Altounions, Thomas | ||||||
14 | O'Neils, and Tony and Merna Franklin; and her many nieces, | ||||||
15 | nephews, cousins, in-laws, church family members, and friends; | ||||||
16 | therefore, be it

17 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
18 | NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
19 | we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of | ||||||
20 | Lula Christine Brown; and be it further

21 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
22 | presented to the family of Lula Brown as an expression of our | ||||||
23 | sympathy.
