| 1 | HOUSE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
| 3 | Representatives are pleased to recognize important events in | ||||||
| 4 | the State of Illinois; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, April 2011 is "Sarcoidosis Awareness Month" | ||||||
| 6 | world-wide; and
| ||||||
| 7 | WHEREAS, Sarcoidosis is a noncontagious, systemic disease | ||||||
| 8 | that is commonly diagnosed with the detection of inflamed, | ||||||
| 9 | microscopic growths; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, Sarcoidosis is a debilitating and potentially | ||||||
| 11 | fatal disease which causes massive tissue inflammation and | ||||||
| 12 | damage to major organs, particularly the lungs;
the disease can | ||||||
| 13 | also target the heart, eyes, brain, liver, kidneys, and skin | ||||||
| 14 | and the inflammation may cause seizures, blindness, | ||||||
| 15 | disfiguring lesions, and heart failure; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Sarcoidosis affects people around the world and | ||||||
| 17 | the origins of the diseases are still unknown; the National | ||||||
| 18 | Sarcoidosis Society provides support group meetings and | ||||||
| 19 | telephone support groups to individuals affected by the | ||||||
| 20 | diseases and their families; and
| ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, The National Sarcoidosis Society also supports | ||||||
| 2 | health care providers' efforts to increase awareness and | ||||||
| 3 | further research the disease; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 4 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
| 5 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
| 6 | we recognize April of 2011 as "Sarcoidosis Awareness Month" in | ||||||
| 7 | the State of Illinois; and be it further
| ||||||
| 8 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 9 | presented to the National Sarcoidosis Society as a symbol of | ||||||
| 10 | our respect and esteem.
