2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives wish to recognize
Danielle Cary of | ||||||
4 | Collinsville on her recent accomplishments, including her | ||||||
5 | outstanding devotion to personal development and helping | ||||||
6 | others; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Danielle Cary is currently a sophomore at | ||||||
8 | Collinsville High School; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Danielle Cary recently received the Congressional | ||||||
10 | Award Gold Medal, the highest level of congressional | ||||||
11 | recognition available to civilian youth that requires | ||||||
12 | participants to demonstrate a commitment to their personal | ||||||
13 | growth and community development; and
| ||||||
14 | WHEREAS, Danielle Cary registered for the Congressional | ||||||
15 | Award program in October of 2020, taking on the tremendous | ||||||
16 | responsibility to intentionally better herself and the lives | ||||||
17 | of those around her at age 13 and a half, the youngest that a | ||||||
18 | student can register for the program; her dedication to | ||||||
19 | completing the program was made only more impressive given the | ||||||
20 | widespread uncertainty caused by the early months of the | ||||||
21 | COVID-19 pandemic; and

1 | WHEREAS, To earn the Congressional Award Gold Medal, | ||||||
2 | Danielle Cary actively participated in the program for a | ||||||
3 | minimum 24 months, during which she completed a minimum 400 | ||||||
4 | hours of voluntary public service, logged a minimum 200 hours | ||||||
5 | of physical fitness, and completed a five-day expedition; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Through the Congressional Award program, Danielle | ||||||
7 | Cary took the opportunity to engage in many different personal | ||||||
8 | interests and community needs, including teaching herself how | ||||||
9 | to play the ukulele, completing scuba diving certification, | ||||||
10 | earning her second degree black belt in taekwondo, and | ||||||
11 | volunteering with the Caseyville Public Library, the Disabled | ||||||
12 | American Veterans (DAV), and the Girl Scouts; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, For the five-day expedition requirement, Danielle | ||||||
14 | Cary embraced the chance to explore environments and cultures | ||||||
15 | vastly different from those she knew in Illinois by visiting | ||||||
16 | the Caribbean nation of Curaçao; while there, she pursued | ||||||
17 | hiking and scuba diving to familiarize herself with the | ||||||
18 | landscape, history, and culture of the island and its people; | ||||||
19 | and
| ||||||
20 | WHEREAS, Danielle Cary was also recently named a Gold | ||||||
21 | Award Girl Scout after successfully completing the Girl | ||||||
22 | Scouts' Gold Award program through partnering with a local | ||||||
23 | hospital and library to offer new sensory activities for |

1 | pediatric therapy patients and sensory-friendly events for | ||||||
2 | Collinsville residents; she previously completed the tasks | ||||||
3 | necessary to be named a Bronze Award Girl Scout in 2012 and a | ||||||
4 | Silver Award Girl Scout in 2019; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Danielle Cary has maintained her commitment to | ||||||
6 | serving her community while still actively participating in | ||||||
7 | school activities through involvement in multiple clubs and | ||||||
8 | sports teams as well as excelling academically; and
| ||||||
9 | WHEREAS, Danielle Cary is a true public servant, and she | ||||||
10 | continues to serve her community through various projects in | ||||||
11 | pursuit of the Presidential Volunteer Service Award, which | ||||||
12 | requires that she complete an additional 100 service hours; | ||||||
13 | therefore, be it

14 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE | ||||||
15 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
16 | we recognize Danielle Cary on her recent accomplishments, | ||||||
17 | thank her for her dedication to public service and the people | ||||||
18 | of Illinois, and wish her success in her future endeavors; and | ||||||
19 | be it further

20 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
| ||||||
21 | presented to Danielle Cary as an expression of our esteem and
