2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of
Vivian | ||||||
4 | Bratton Wilson, who passed away on March 9, 2011; and
| ||||||
5 | WHEREAS, Vivian Wilson was born on March 6, 1918; her | ||||||
6 | parents were Effie Bomar and Luegemus Bratton; and
| ||||||
7 | WHEREAS, Vivian Wilson attended Englewood High School, | ||||||
8 | Wilson Jr. College, and Roosevelt University, where she studied | ||||||
9 | business and business administration; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Vivian Wilson's father was the founder of Star | ||||||
11 | Detective and Security Agency in Chicago; in her early years, | ||||||
12 | she performed undercover work and other investigations for Star | ||||||
13 | Detective and served as her father's part-time secretary, | ||||||
14 | bookkeeper, payroll clerk, recruiter, hirer, and firer in the | ||||||
15 | 1940s and 1950s; after her father's passing, she served as | ||||||
16 | Star's president and treasurer for nearly 30 years, directing a | ||||||
17 | business with 650 employees; and

18 | WHEREAS, Vivian Wilson was licensed as a State of Illinois | ||||||
19 | Private Security Contractor, State of Illinois Private | ||||||
20 | Detective and State of Illinois Private Alarm Contractor; she | ||||||
21 | had received numerous awards for outstanding work in the |

1 | security field and was named "Security Entrepreneur of the | ||||||
2 | Year" by the Alpha Lambda Honorary Fraternity; and
| ||||||
3 | WHEREAS, Vivian Wilson was a regular at the South Side | ||||||
4 | Gospel Assembly, St. John AME Church, and Trinity United Church | ||||||
5 | of Christ; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Vivian Wilson was preceded in death by her second | ||||||
7 | husband, Clyde Wilson; her siblings, Howard Bratton, Leonard | ||||||
8 | Bratton, and Paulina Bratton; and her granddaughter, Volora | ||||||
9 | Watson; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Vivian Wilson is survived by her sister, Marcella | ||||||
11 | (David) Gibson; her daughter Almeda (Irwin) Dunn; her | ||||||
12 | granddaughter, Dominique (Charles) Wallace; and her | ||||||
13 | great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Almeda Wallace; therefore, be | ||||||
14 | it

15 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
16 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
17 | we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of | ||||||
18 | Vivian Bratton Wilson; and be it further

19 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
20 | presented to the family of Vivian Wilson as an expression of | ||||||
21 | our sympathy.
