2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Janice | ||||||
4 | M. (Jamrosz) Christiansen, who passed away on March 31, 2023; | ||||||
5 | and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Janice Christiansen was born to Margaret | ||||||
7 | (Campbell) Jamrosz and Sigmund F. Jamrosz in Springfield on | ||||||
8 | December 19, 1943; she was a graduate of Michigan State | ||||||
9 | University, with a major in history and a minor in English; she | ||||||
10 | married John T. Christiansen in 1968, and they had two sons, | ||||||
11 | Spencer Lynn and Jon Michael, before he preceded her in death | ||||||
12 | in 1985; and
| ||||||
13 | WHEREAS, Janice Christiansen and her husband were third | ||||||
14 | generation owners of the family business, FlagSource, a | ||||||
15 | company that produces U.S. flags, which are 100% made in the | ||||||
16 | U.S.A. and derived from American materials and labor; she | ||||||
17 | joined the firm as president in 1990, vowing to return | ||||||
18 | FlagSource to its former glory and to honor her husband's | ||||||
19 | legacy; she rebuilt the business within 5 years, all while | ||||||
20 | raising her two sons; as she propelled the business forward, | ||||||
21 | she installed the largest embroidery machine in the world to | ||||||
22 | embroider the starfields on U.S. flags; and

1 | WHEREAS, Janice Christiansen was named the first | ||||||
2 | chairwoman of the Illinois Manufacturers' Association (IMA) in | ||||||
3 | 2010; she relished the position and connected with many | ||||||
4 | different business and manufacturing associations to move | ||||||
5 | Illinois manufacturing forward; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, Janice Christiansen had a great passion for | ||||||
7 | traveling and exploring the world, and she made many of these | ||||||
8 | journeys with her partner, Bob Bonifas; she was also a proud | ||||||
9 | alum of Michigan State University; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Janice Christiansen loved her family, and one of | ||||||
11 | her favorite family activities was hosting Christmas at her | ||||||
12 | home, which was always a big and colorful event; she will be | ||||||
13 | remembered for her leadership, her dedication to family and | ||||||
14 | the family business, and her positive and upbeat manner; and
| ||||||
15 | WHEREAS, Janice Christiansen is survived by her sons, | ||||||
16 | Spencer (Jennifer) and Jon Michael (Maria); her grandchildren, | ||||||
17 | Spencer Jr., Nathan, and Lucas; her brother, Michael Jamrosz; | ||||||
18 | her nephews, Jeffrey (Jessica) and Joseph (Christine); her | ||||||
19 | brother-in-law, William Christiansen; her many nieces and | ||||||
20 | nephews; and her partner of nearly 20 years, Robert "Bob" | ||||||
21 | Bonifas; therefore, be it

22 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE |

1 | HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
2 | we mourn the passing of Janice M. (Jamrosz) Christiansen and | ||||||
3 | extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all | ||||||
4 | who knew and loved her; and be it further

5 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
6 | presented to the family of Janice Christiansen as an | ||||||
7 | expression of our deepest sympathy.
