HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, On February 12, 2009, the National Association for
3 the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) celebrated its 100th
4 anniversary; and
5 WHEREAS, The NAACP was founded on the beliefs embodied in
6 the United States Constitution, which stand for equality and
7 equal opportunity for all, regardless of race; and
8 WHEREAS, Members of the NAACP, in keeping with the charge
9 of our nation's founders, stand for equal justice and are
10 against all forms of injustice; and
11 WHEREAS, The NAACP's work promotes equality and justice for
12 all people; and
13 WHEREAS, The NAACP will continue to fight for justice for
14 all; and
15 WHEREAS, The work of the NAACP has benefited all people;
16 and
17 WHEREAS, The efforts of the NAACP deserve broad
18 recognition; therefore, be it

1 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 congratulate the members of the NAACP on the occasion of the
4 association's 100th anniversary and wish them continued
5 success in their future endeavors; and be it further
6 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to a representative of the NAACP as a symbol of our
8 esteem and respect.
