2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | ||||||
3 | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Janet Hasz, | ||||||
4 | Executive Director of the Supportive Housing Providers | ||||||
5 | Association in Chicago, on her retirement; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, For the last ten years she has served as the | ||||||
7 | Executive Director of the Supportive Housing Providers | ||||||
8 | Association (SHPA), over 100 nonprofit organizations located | ||||||
9 | throughout the State of Illinois that provide supportive | ||||||
10 | housing to homeless individuals and families, who often also | ||||||
11 | have special needs, such as mental illness or HIV/AIDS; and
| ||||||
12 | WHEREAS, Under her leadership the Supportive Housing | ||||||
13 | Providers Association has grown by more than 800% since going | ||||||
14 | statewide in June of 2000; she has 27 years of leadership | ||||||
15 | experience in the field of non-profit affordable housing; as | ||||||
16 | executive director of a community-based development agency, | ||||||
17 | she directed the rehabilitation of 500 units of family | ||||||
18 | affordable rental housing and the new construction of 28 | ||||||
19 | award-winning affordable town homes; and

20 | WHEREAS, Janet Hasz was born in Mt. Prospect; she has been | ||||||
21 | a community activist in Chicago since 1982; her early career | ||||||
22 | was teaching elementary school; and

1 | WHEREAS, She received her Bachelor of Science degree in | ||||||
2 | Education from Concordia College; she also received training in | ||||||
3 | non-profit administration from the University of Illinois at | ||||||
4 | Chicago's Center for Enterprise Development; and

5 | WHEREAS, She received a Statewide Housing Action Coalition | ||||||
6 | Golden Trowel Award in 2004
in recognition of her organization | ||||||
7 | and advocacy work with the Supportive Housing Providers | ||||||
8 | Association to secure State funding for services in supportive | ||||||
9 | housing; for the International Homes 28-unit town home project | ||||||
10 | completed in Uptown, she received honorable mention in the | ||||||
11 | Fannie Mae and Social Impact housing development competitions | ||||||
12 | and an American Institute of Architects Award; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
14 | NINETY-SEVENTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that | ||||||
15 | we congratulate Janet Hasz on her retirement and wish her all | ||||||
16 | the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

17 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
18 | presented to Janet Hasz as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
