Bill Title: Calls upon federal policy makers to support policies that promote American interest by requiring full reciprocity, fairness, and transparency in all U.S. trade agreements, including such areas as labor and environmental standards, support actions to combat the illegal and mercantilist practice of prolonged currency misalignment, support the elimination of tax disadvantages which undermine the competitiveness of U.S. producers both at home and abroad or which discourage investment in America, support the aggressive enforcement of U.S. laws to halt foreign illegal trade activities such as dumping, subsidies, and intellectual property theft, and ensure that goods sold domestically meet U.S. food and product safety standards.

2 | WHEREAS, United States trade policies have, in some | ||||||
3 | instances, handicapped some Illinois-based manufacturers and | ||||||
4 | have led to massive trade deficits, stagnant worker wages, and | ||||||
5 | a loss of good-paying manufacturing jobs; and
| ||||||
6 | WHEREAS, The current trade deficit is undermining | ||||||
7 | family-sustaining jobs and investment in assets, helping to | ||||||
8 | foster a debt-driven economy that is dangerously dependent on | ||||||
9 | foreign borrowing; and
| ||||||
10 | WHEREAS, Fixing America's international economic policy | ||||||
11 | must be a top priority for the President of the United States | ||||||
12 | and the United States Congress; therefore, be it

13 | RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | ||||||
14 | NINETY-SIXTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | ||||||
15 | call upon our federal policy makers to support policies that | ||||||

21 | RESOLVED, That we also call upon our federal policy makers |

11 | presented to the President of the United States, the Majority | ||||||
12 | Leader of the United States Senate, the Speaker of the United | ||||||
13 | States House of Representatives, and the members of the | ||||||
14 | Illinois congressional delegation.
