SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
25 ILCS 120/7 new

Amends the Compensation Review Act. Provides that for the 100th General Assembly and for each General Assembly thereafter, no member of the General Assembly shall receive an increase in compensation based upon a cost of living adjustment unless otherwise approved by law. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning State government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Compensation Review Act is amended by adding
5Section 7 as follows:
6 (25 ILCS 120/7 new)
7 Sec. 7. General Assembly COLAs prohibited. Notwithstanding
8any former or current provision of this Act, any other law, any
9report of the Compensation Review Board, or any resolution of
10the General Assembly to the contrary, for the 100th General
11Assembly and for each General Assembly thereafter, no member of
12the General Assembly shall receive an increase in compensation
13based upon a cost of living adjustment unless otherwise
14approved by law.
15 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
16becoming law.
