1 AN ACT concerning civil law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Code of Civil Procedure is amended by
5changing Section 2-1704 as follows:
6 (735 ILCS 5/2-1704) (from Ch. 110, par. 2-1704)
7 Sec. 2-1704. Medical Malpractice Action. As used in this
8Part, "medical malpractice action" means any action, whether in
9tort, contract or otherwise, in which the the plaintiff seeks
10damages for injuries or death by reason of medical, hospital,
11or other healing art malpractice. The term "healing art" shall
12not include care and treatment by spiritual means through
13prayer in accord with the tenets and practices of a recognized
14church or religious denomination.
