AN ACT concerning education.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Board of Higher Education Act is amended by
adding Section 9.44 as follows:
(110 ILCS 205/9.44 new)
Sec. 9.44. Artificial intelligence education report.
(a) In this Section, "artificial intelligence" means a
machine-based system that can, for a given set of
human-defined objectives, make predictions, recommendations,
or decisions influencing real or virtual environments.
(b) Within 6 months of the effective date of this
amendatory Act of the 103rd General Assembly, the Board shall
prepare a report to the General Assembly on the state of
artificial intelligence education and development in public
and private institutions of higher education. The report shall
contain, at a minimum, the following information:
(1) All existing academic programs and courses
focusing on education of students about the use,
development, and ethical and social implications of
artificial intelligence systems.
(2) All future plans for implementing such programs
and courses.
