Bill Title: Amends the School Code. Provides that, beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, each school district that maintains grades 9 through 12 shall require each student in grade 11 to file an application for admission to a public or private college, university, trade or vocational school, or internship or apprenticeship program or for entry into military service as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma; defines "military service".

Amends the School Code. 1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
522-85 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/22-85 new)
7 Sec. 22-85. College application requirement. In this
8Section, "military service" means any full-time training or
9duty, no matter how described under federal or State law, for
10which a service member is ordered to report by the President,
11Governor of a state, commonwealth, or territory of the United
12States, or other appropriate military authority. Beginning
13with the 2019-2020 school year, each school district that
14maintains grades 9 through 12 shall require each student in
15grade 11 to file an application for admission to a public or
16private college, university, trade or vocational school, or
17internship or apprenticeship program or for entry into military
18service as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma.
