Bill Title: Amends the School Code. Provides that, beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, each school district that maintains grades 9 through 12 shall require each student in grade 11 to file an application for admission to a public or private college, university, trade or vocational school, or internship or apprenticeship program or for entry into military service as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma; defines "military service".

AN ACT concerning education.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section
22-85 as follows:
(105 ILCS 5/22-85 new)
Sec. 22-85. College application requirement. In this
Section, "military service" means any full-time training or
duty, no matter how described under federal or State law, for
which a service member is ordered to report by the President,
Governor of a state, commonwealth, or territory of the United
States, or other appropriate military authority. Beginning
with the 2019-2020 school year, each school district that
maintains grades 9 through 12 shall require each student in
grade 11 to file an application for admission to a public or
private college, university, trade or vocational school, or
internship or apprenticeship program or for entry into military
service as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma.
