Amends the School Code. Provides that, beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, each school district that maintains grades 9 through 12 shall require each student in grade 11 to file an application for admission to a public or private college, university, trade or vocational school, or internship or apprenticeship program or for entry into military service as a prerequisite to receiving a high school diploma; defines "military service".

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
| 5 | | 22-85 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 5/22-85 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 22-85. College application requirement. In this |
| 8 | | Section, "military service" means any full-time training or |
| 9 | | duty, no matter how described under federal or State law, for |
| 10 | | which a service member is ordered to report by the President, |
| 11 | | Governor of a state, commonwealth, or territory of the United |
| 12 | | States, or other appropriate military authority. Beginning |
| 13 | | with the 2019-2020 school year, each school district that |
| 14 | | maintains grades 9 through 12 shall require each student in |
