Bill Title: Amends the State Designations Act. Designates portraits of Illinois Governors displayed in the State Capitol as the official State portraits of the Governors of Illinois. Prohibits inclusion among those official portraits any image of a Governor who has been removed from office by impeachment and conviction.

1 | AN ACT concerning government.
| ||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The State Designations Act is amended by adding | ||||||
5 | Section 212 as follows:
| ||||||
6 | (5 ILCS 460/212 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 212. Official gubernatorial portraits. | ||||||
8 | (a) The portraits of the Governors of Illinois, painted or | ||||||
9 | otherwise created as visual images, displayed in the State | ||||||
10 | Capitol shall be the official State portraits of the Governors | ||||||
11 | of Illinois. | ||||||
12 | (b) No portrait or other image of any person who has served | ||||||
13 | as Governor of Illinois and who has been removed from that | ||||||
14 | office by impeachment and conviction shall be financed or paid | ||||||
15 | for by the State or any State entity or with State funds. | ||||||
16 | Notwithstanding this prohibition, a portrait or image of such a | ||||||
17 | person may be displayed or otherwise placed in the State | ||||||
18 | Capitol, and the State may maintain such official State | ||||||
19 | portrait of that person among the official State portraits of | ||||||
20 | the Governors of Illinois.
