Bill Title: Amends the General Assembly Operations Act. Provides that the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall not convene the House of Representatives in regular or perfunctory session after 4:00 p.m. on the day before Memorial Day or before 4:00 p.m. on Memorial Day. Provides that on a regular session day reasonably close to Memorial Day, the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall include in the business on the Daily Calendar for the House of Representatives for that session a remembrance ceremony for Memorial Day.

1 | AN ACT concerning State government.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The General Assembly Operations Act is amended | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | by adding Section 20 as follows:

6 | (25 ILCS 10/20 new) | |||||||||||||||||||
7 | Sec. 20. House of Representatives; Memorial Day. | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | (a) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall not convene | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | the House of Representatives in regular or perfunctory session | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | after 4:00 p.m. on the day before Memorial Day or before 4:00 | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | p.m. on Memorial Day. | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | (b) On a regular session day reasonably close to Memorial | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | Day, the Speaker of the House of Representatives shall include | |||||||||||||||||||
