Amends the Criminal Code of 1961. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the applicability of the common law.

1 AN ACT concerning criminal law.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Criminal Code of 1961 is amended by changing
5 Section 1-3 as follows:
6 (720 ILCS 5/1-3) (from Ch. 38, par. 1-3)
7 Sec. 1-3. Applicability of common law. No conduct
8 constitutes an offense unless it is described as an offense in
9 this Code or in another statute of this State. However, this
10 provision does not affect the the power of a court to punish
11 for contempt or to employ any sanction authorized by law for
12 the enforcement of an order or civil judgment.
