Bill Title: Amends the Downstate Police and Firefighter Articles of the Illinois Pension Code. Provide that the pension board shall provide notice of each meeting to the mayor or president of the board of trustees of the municipality at least 48 hours prior to that meeting. Provides that if the board fails to provide that notice for any meeting, then any action taken at that meeting is invalid. Effective immediately.

Amends the Downstate Police and Firefighter Articles of the Illinois Pension Code. 1 AN ACT in relation to public employee benefits.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding
5Sections 3-143.5 and 4-134.5 as follows:
6 (40 ILCS 5/3-143.5 new)
7 Sec. 3-143.5. Notice of meetings. In addition to any duty
8under the Open Meetings Act, the board shall provide notice of
9each meeting to the mayor or president of the board of trustees
10of the municipality at least 48 hours prior to that meeting.
11The notice must set forth the time, date, location, and agenda
12of the meeting. If the board fails to provide the notice
13required under this Section for any meeting, then any action
14taken at that meeting is invalid.

16 Sec. 4-134.5. Notice of meetings. In addition to any duty
