1 | AN ACT concerning transportation.
| |||||||||||||||||||
2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| |||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| |||||||||||||||||||
4 | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by changing | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | Section 3-407 as follows:
| |||||||||||||||||||
6 | (625 ILCS 5/3-407) (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 3-407)

7 | Sec. 3-407. Temporary permit or registration pending | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | registration.

9 | (a) Temporary Permit. The Secretary of State in his | |||||||||||||||||||
10 | discretion may may
grant a temporary permit or placard to | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | operate a vehicle for which
application for
registration and | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | certificate of title has been made where such application
is | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | accompanied by the proper fee, pending action upon said | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | application by
the Secretary of State. In lieu of payment of | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | the proper fee, the Secretary
of State may accept a bond | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | therefor or a certificate of deposit, in the
proper amount, and | |||||||||||||||||||
17 | in the same form and subject to the same requirements as
the | |||||||||||||||||||
18 | payment of such fees or taxes on an installment basis, except | |||||||||||||||||||
19 | that the
fees or taxes due shall be payable and paid to the | |||||||||||||||||||
20 | Secretary of State. The
design, color and format of the | |||||||||||||||||||
21 | temporary permit or placard shall be wholly
within the | |||||||||||||||||||
22 | discretion of the Secretary of State.

23 | (b) Temporary Registration. The Secretary of State in his |
| |||||||
| |||||||
1 | discretion may
issue registration plates to an owner for which | ||||||
2 | application and certificate
of title has been made where such | ||||||
3 | application is accompanied by the proper
fee and tax, pending | ||||||
4 | completion of the said application by the applicant
and the | ||||||
5 | Secretary, subject however to rules and regulations | ||||||
6 | promulgated by
the Secretary.

7 | (c) Revocation. A temporary permit or registration is | ||||||
8 | subject to
revocation to the same extent as any other | ||||||
9 | registration.
