1 | AN ACT concerning safety.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, | |||||||||||||||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Alternate Fuels Act is amended by changing | |||||||||||||||||||
5 | Section 5 as follows:

7 | Sec. 5. Purpose. The
The General Assembly declares that
it | |||||||||||||||||||
8 | is the public policy of the State to promote and encourage
the | |||||||||||||||||||
9 | use of alternate fuel in vehicles as a means to improve air
| |||||||||||||||||||
10 | quality in the State and to meet the requirements of the | |||||||||||||||||||
11 | federal
Clean Air Act Amendments of 1990 and the federal | |||||||||||||||||||
12 | Energy Policy
Act of 1992. The General Assembly further | |||||||||||||||||||
13 | declares that the
State can play a leadership role in the | |||||||||||||||||||
14 | development of vehicles
powered by alternate fuels, as well as | |||||||||||||||||||
15 | in the establishment of
the necessary infrastructure to | |||||||||||||||||||
16 | support this emerging technology. | |||||||||||||||||||
