Bill Title: Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Requires the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity to complete an assessment of its current practices related to marketing programs administered by the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. Provides that, if the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity, in consultation with the General Assembly, concludes that a Citizens Services Coordinator is needed to assist Illinois residents in obtaining services and programs offered by the Department, then the Department may, subject to appropriation, hire an individual to serve as a Citizens Services Coordinator.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic | ||||||
5 | Opportunity Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is | ||||||
6 | amended by adding Section 605-1025 as follows:

7 | (20 ILCS 605/605-1025 new) | ||||||
8 | Sec. 605-1025. Assessment of marketing programs. The | ||||||
9 | Department shall, in consultation with the General Assembly, | ||||||
10 | complete an assessment of its current practices related to | ||||||
11 | marketing programs administered by the Department and the | ||||||
12 | extent to which the Department assists Illinois residents in | ||||||
13 | the use and coordination of programs offered by the Department. | ||||||
14 | That assessment shall be completed by December 31, 2019. | ||||||
15 | Upon review of the assessment, if the Department, in | ||||||
16 | consultation with the General Assembly, concludes that a | ||||||
17 | Citizens Services Coordinator is needed to assist Illinois | ||||||
18 | residents in obtaining services and programs offered by the | ||||||
19 | Department, then the Department may, subject to appropriation, | ||||||
20 | hire an individual to serve as a Citizens Services Coordinator. | ||||||
21 | The Citizens Services Coordinator shall assist Illinois | ||||||
22 | residents seeking out and obtaining services and programs | ||||||
23 | offered by the Department and shall monitor resident inquiries |
