Bill Title: Creates the Illinois Local Government Appointee Ethics Act. Defines "unit of local government". Provides that any appointed member of a board, commission, authority, or task force created by State law or by executive order of the Governor who is appointed by a unit of local government shall be bound by the ethics laws applicable to, and ethics policies of, that unit of local government, and shall also be subject to the jurisdiction of the unit of local government's inspector general and that inspector general's enabling legislation. Effective immediately.

SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
New Act

Creates the Illinois Local Government Appointee Ethics Act. Defines "unit of local government". Provides that any appointed member of a board, commission, authority, or task force created by State law or by executive order of the Governor who is appointed by a unit of local government shall be bound by the ethics laws applicable to, and ethics policies of, that unit of local government, and shall also be subject to the jurisdiction of the unit of local government's inspector general and that inspector general's enabling legislation. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the
5Illinois Local Government Appointee Ethics Act.
6 Section 10. Appointments by units of local government.
7 (a) For the purposes of this Act, "unit of local
8government" has the meaning ascribed to it in Section 1 of
9Article VII of the Illinois Constitution and also includes
10school districts and community college districts.
11 (b) Any appointed member of a board, commission, authority,
12or task force created by State law or by executive order of the
13Governor who is appointed by a unit of local government shall
14be bound by the ethics laws applicable to, and the ethics
15policies of, that unit of local government, and shall also be
16subject to the jurisdiction of the unit of local government's
17inspector general and that inspector general's enabling
18legislation.
