40 ILCS 5/2-101.1 new

Amends the General Assembly Article of the Illinois Pension Code. Provides that no person first elected or appointed to the General Assembly on or after November 8, 2022 shall be eligible to become a participant in the General Assembly Retirement System.

1 AN ACT concerning public employee benefits.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Illinois Pension Code is amended by adding
5Section 2-101.1 as follows:
6 (40 ILCS 5/2-101.1 new)
7 Sec. 2-101.1. Termination of eligibility for members of
8the General Assembly. Notwithstanding any other law, no person
9first elected or appointed to the General Assembly on or after
10November 8, 2022 shall be eligible to become a participant in
11the System.
