Amends the Counties Code. Removes a provision limiting the number of deputies a sheriff may appoint to a number allowed by the county board. Effective immediately.

1 AN ACT concerning local government.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The Counties Code is amended by changing Section
53-6008 as follows:
6 (55 ILCS 5/3-6008) (from Ch. 34, par. 3-6008)
7 Sec. 3-6008. Deputies. Each sheriff may appoint one or more
8deputies, not exceeding the number allowed by the county board
9of his or her county. No person who has ever been classified as
10a conscientious objector by a local selective service draft
11board may be appointed as a deputy sheriff.

13 Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
