Bill Title: Amends the Fish and Aquatic Life Code. Provides that except as otherwise provided in the Code, for sport fishing devices or spearing devices, any resident of Illinois who is 16 years of age or older who has not purchased a resident fishing license in the past 10 years shall be eligible to receive a one-time annual resident fishing license for a fee of $5. Provides that any nonresident who has not purchased a nonresident fishing license in the past 10 years shall be eligible to receive a one-time annual sport fishing license for a fee of $10. Effective January 1, 2024.

AN ACT concerning fish.
| ||||
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||
represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||
Section 5. The Fish and Aquatic Life Code is amended by | ||||
adding Section 20-56 as follows:

(515 ILCS 5/20-56 new) | ||||
Sec. 20-56. First-time fishing license. Except as | ||||
otherwise provided in this Code, for
sport fishing devices as | ||||
defined in Section 10-95 or spearing devices as defined in | ||||
Section 10-110, any resident of Illinois who is 26 years of age | ||||
or older who has not purchased a resident fishing license in | ||||
the past 10 years is eligible to receive a one-time annual | ||||
resident fishing license for a fee of $5. Any nonresident who | ||||
is 26 years of age or older and has not purchased a nonresident | ||||
fishing license in the past 10 years is eligible to receive a | ||||
one-time annual sport fishing license for a fee of $10.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January | ||||
1, 2024.
