Bill Title: Amends the Compensation Review Act. Provides that members of the General Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based on a cost of living adjustment for terms commencing on or after July 1, 2021, unless otherwise approved by law. Effective immediately.

Amends the Compensation Review Act. Provides that members of the General Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based on a cost of living adjustment for terms commencing on or after July 1, 2021, unless otherwise approved by law. Effective immediately.

AN ACT concerning State government.
Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
represented in the General Assembly:
Section 5. The Compensation Review Act is amended by
adding Section 7 as follows:
(25 ILCS 120/7 new)
Sec. 7. General Assembly COLAs prohibited. Notwithstanding
any former or current provision of this Act, any other law, any
report of the Compensation Review Board, or any resolution of
the General Assembly to the contrary, members of the General
Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive
any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based
on a cost of living adjustment, as authorized by Senate Joint
Resolution 192 of the 86th General Assembly, for terms
commencing on or after July 1, 2021, unless otherwise approved
by law.
Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
becoming law.
