Bill Title: Amends the Compensation Review Act. Provides that members of the General Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based on a cost of living adjustment for terms commencing on or after July 1, 2021, unless otherwise approved by law. Effective immediately.

| 1 | AN ACT concerning State government.
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| |||||||||||||||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | Section 5. The Compensation Review Act is amended by | |||||||||||||||||||
| 5 | adding Section 7 as follows:

| 6 | (25 ILCS 120/7 new) | |||||||||||||||||||
| 7 | Sec. 7. General Assembly COLAs prohibited. Notwithstanding | |||||||||||||||||||
| 8 | any former or current provision of this Act, any other law, any | |||||||||||||||||||
| 9 | report of the Compensation Review Board, or any resolution of | |||||||||||||||||||
| 10 | the General Assembly to the contrary, members of the General | |||||||||||||||||||
| 11 | Assembly are prohibited from receiving and shall not receive | |||||||||||||||||||
| 12 | any increase in compensation that would otherwise apply based | |||||||||||||||||||
| 13 | on a cost of living adjustment, as authorized by Senate Joint | |||||||||||||||||||
| 14 | Resolution 192 of the 86th General Assembly, for terms | |||||||||||||||||||
| 15 | commencing on or after July 1, 2021, unless otherwise approved | |||||||||||||||||||
| 16 | by law.

| 17 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | |||||||||||||||||||
