1 AN ACT concerning education.
2 Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
4 Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
5 16-7 as follows:
6 (105 ILCS 5/16-7) (from Ch. 122, par. 16-7)
7 Sec. 16-7. Playgrounds, recreation grounds and and
8 athletic fields. Any school district organized and existing
9 under the general law or by special charter having a population
10 of not more than 500,000 inhabitants may acquire real estate by
11 gift, donation, legacy, purchase or otherwise and hold it for
12 the purpose of establishing playgrounds, recreation grounds
13 and athletic fields, and may equip, operate and maintain such
14 playgrounds, recreation grounds and athletic fields, the cost
15 of such acquiring and equipping to be paid either from the
16 proceeds of bonds issued for that purpose or out of the
17 operations and maintenance fund, and the cost of such
18 maintaining and operating to be paid from the educational fund,
19 of the district. Such real estate need not be contiguous to any
20 other school property or real estate owned by the school
21 district.
