Bill Title: Amends the Illinois Municipal Code. Provides that individual members of the board of trustees of certain villages may not hire a separate attorney using public funds unless the village attorney is disqualified from or recuses himself or herself from representing the member in his or her official capacity. Effective immediately.

| 1 | AN ACT concerning local government.
| ||||||
| 2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
| 3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
| 4 | Section 5. The Illinois Municipal Code is amended by adding | ||||||
| 5 | Sections 3.1-25-100 and 6-4-7.5 as follows:

| 6 | (65 ILCS 5/3.1-25-100 new)
| ||||||
| 7 | Sec. 3.1-25-100. Village trustees; attorney. One or more | ||||||
| 8 | individual members of the board of trustees of any village | ||||||
| 9 | incorporated under this Division may not hire a separate | ||||||
| 10 | attorney using public funds unless the village attorney is | ||||||
| 11 | disqualified from or recuses himself or herself from | ||||||
| 12 | representing the member in his or her official capacity.
