Bill Title: Amends the School Code. Provides that, in addition to any reporting requirements under the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act, if a school district employee or volunteer receives a written, electronic, or verbal report alleging sexual abuse or sexual assault of a student by another school district employee or volunteer, the employee or volunteer who received the report must inform the student's parent or guardian, the State Board of Education, the school board, and the local law enforcement agency. Effective immediately.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

3 | represented in the General Assembly:

4 | Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Sections | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
5 | 10-23.12 and 34-18.6 as follows:

10 | personnel who work with pupils in grades kindergarten through

11 | in the detection, reporting, and prevention of child abuse and | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
12 | neglect.

13 | (b) The Department of Children and Family Services may, in | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
14 | cooperation with school officials, distribute appropriate | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
15 | materials in school buildings listing the toll-free telephone | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
16 | number established in Section 7.6 of the Abused and Neglected | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
17 | Child Reporting Act, including methods of making a report under | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
18 | Section 7 of the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act, to | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
19 | be displayed in a clearly visible location in each school | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||
20 | building. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||

8 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
